If you are a senior, over 55, make sure your real estate agent is not taking you for a ride. If you want to live in a community that is senior oriented, make sure they are searching those areas for you.
Some have been accused of searching for real estate that are not “senior” in orientation, thereby tricking their clients into buying something they were not interested in.
When it comes to loans – there are a few questions that you should prepare yourselves to ask. Ask your lender the following.
- May I get a copy of my credit report when I give up my SS number?
- What about a Good Faith Estimate (GFE), can you produce one of those for me without me having a home identified?
- What is your closing timetable with reference to the loan I’m wanting to obtain? Is it 30 days to close, or 45, or even 60 days to close. What is your experience? Will you guarantee this for me in writing?
There are many other GREAT questions to ask your lender. Find out more at one of our real estate lending and mortgage articles.
