As that applies to real estate, when I bought my first home – I was taken badly. There was no “googling” back then and I could not verify how “bad” was what happened to me.
I remember the feeling of helplessness and also how it seemed that everyone was covering up for the real estate agent.
His Broker, his partner, even the Board of Realtors who kept having me be redirected back to the agent, the agent who wasn’t returning any of my phone calls.
This was the catalyst for me becoming a Santa Clarita Realtor.
At that time, I was an LAPD cop. I taught several subjects for the Los Angeles Police Department. One of the main differences with teaching LAPD courses versus those in the private sector, is that most are dynamic. Shooting courses, Firearms, Tactics, Drug Recognition, those required a higher level of performance than the best in the class. The instructors have to always be “heads and tails” above any of the students which are being taught.
As a Firearms instructor, when demonstrating shooting on the move or point shooting, you could not miss. You had to be faster than each and every student, no matter what their backgrounds. And believe me when I tell you we had some recruits who had some spectacular “secret squirrel” backgrounds. – Seals, DOJ, Marshalls, FAM’s, DOE, NSA, and from every other three letter acronym you’d could imagine.
Back in LAPD Class 10/90 – I will tell you we had a West Point Graduate, a x Secret Service member and some other “top level” men and women with impressive “off of the radar” resumes.
When it came to the various “dynamic courses” which were being taught by the LAPD academy staff, those instructors had to perform better than the best in our class, and they did not disappoint.
I educate along the same lines when it comes to our Santa Clarita real estate business. I’m not teaching shooting on the move to those whom I’m selling houses to, but I am teaching them everything I can about Real Estate to keep them protected on all fronts.
Truth in real estate is key to the success of any Santa Clarita real estate business.
I often train new agents and tell them there is no “secret sauce” in presenting. The real estate clients don’t want to hear pillow talk. They want to hear the truth so they can deal with it.
Is it true that the truth may equate to the buyers not wanting to buy? Or the home sellers not wanting to sell? – Absolutely yes – but as long as you are honest, truthful and upfront, you now have clients for life.
When the tables turn and when those people want to do anything related to real estate, you will not be lacking for clientele who are in love with you. Oh, and the referral aspect, you can be certain they will not refrain from telling everyone about how stellar you are. There is no better form of advertising, all just by being truthful in your real estate business.
Truth, Honesty and Integrity in real estate is talked about and even printed on business cards everywhere. They are just words. I tell the agents I train to make it very apparent they are all about those three tenants, which should make up the foundation of their real estate business.
Real Estate clients are not to be taken lightly. You don’t know who you are dealing with and if their real estate agent tries to pull the wool over their eyes, those buyers/sellers know others who will point it out to them.
I have written over 10,000 real estate articles about the home buying and selling process. I make sure to keep current with all aspects of buyer and seller representation. I also make sure I’m on top of the lending world to ensure our clients are getting good intel from those of the lending world we are referring them to.
The next time you are seeking real estate advice and you feel “funny – strange” about what you are being told, seek help elsewhere. Do some googling and you will probably come across real estate agents like me. Those of us who are looking at the real estate business by the bigger picture standard.
