They may be “made up”.
I go back to my earlier days in Real Estate, at a time when publication print was the way to get buyers and sellers for Realtors.
There was no police mechanism for these magazines.
They would charge a particular price for admission. That would be the fee for the agents to advertise within.
They may have had a full page, multiple full pages, maybe they paid extra for the cover or back. 1/2 page ads were also in play within those publications.
At one time, they were as thick as Cosmopolitan Magazine!
As stated, there was no Police Mechanism. There was no one “watching” to ensure the listing placed inside were real.
The more “savvy” realtors would place toll free number capture extensions on all their ads saying “Recorded 24 hour Information” about the specific listing. You called, then they called you 🙂
It made many a Realtor very successful, but at the end of the day, some of the ads were not real. They were fake. They were made up in order to make money.
The old “fruit of the poisonous tree”. If the agent you are working with lied to get you to work with them, is that a good or bad choice?
Now, I have noticed that publication print is not what it used to be, but the internet sure is.
Real Estate Syndication Websites, those that show up on Google’s Page 1 for most real estate related keywords, now have a “coming soon” or “pocket listing” tab displayed.
Who is policing those listings? Who is making sure those listings are really “coming soon” or actual “pocket listings”.
The answer?? NO ONE!
No body is checking because people are searching, clicking and giving up who they are.
That information is then being sold to local real estate agents who are going to call you. Sometimes as many as a Dozen Real Estate Agents.
Be careful how you are searching and know the difference between the MLS BEST and a Syndication Real Estate Website.
