Summer is Here, Bringing Thoughts of Southern California Vacation Homes

    vacation homes in California

Southern California for a Vacation Home?

Don’t you just love Southern California?  The weather, the entertainment, the fact you only have to drive less than an hour in most cases to visit some of the most famous places in the world?

It is kind of nice being able to get in the car and get Thai food at 0200am.

We are blessed to have some of the best weather also.  I remember where I grew up – the weather was very hot during the summer and very cold during the winter with snow.

    A more regulated climate:

The closer you are to the beach, the more “regulated” the temperature and climate are.  Meaning, It’s more consistent.  It rarely gets above 80’s at the Beaches, when we can get to over 115 degrees inland.

As far as freezing temperatures?  Most of Southern California won’t get too close to that mark, but we can be within 5 to 10 degrees.  With regard to the Beaches, it doesn’t even get close.

Having a more “steady climate” always brings along with it thoughts of vacation homes.  Owning a second home is a fantasy for many, for others a reality.  Luckily for those in the fantasy category renting a vacation home is easier than ever with websites like VRBO.com and HomeAway.com, and of course those who own vacation homes can benefit greatly from these sites as well if they intend to rent out their second homes when not in use.

Prices are still remaining lower than the Height!

Southern California Beach Front Vacation homes are more affordable than ever thanks to low interest rates and low home values.  Those who are choosing to buy second homes at the moment are doing so because they not only see the exceptional value in today’s market but also want to jump in before home prices rise.  Buying a California vacation home in a desirable location that may serve as a retirement locale one day is often a driving factor as well.

Rent it when you are not in pocket!

The costs of buying a So. Cal. vacation home can be offset by renting it out when you are not using it, helping it pay for itself over time.  These short term rentals can be especially useful if you intend on retiring to the home eventually, after all who doesn’t want to omit the cost of a mortgage in their golden years?

The reality is that we all love the idea of a vacation, quality family time, and a beautiful location that suits our lifestyles.  Vacation homes can help create a lifetime of memories and add to our quality of life.  Now could be just the time to examine whether buying a second home can fit in your budget.

When you start to search for real estate in Southern California, the best thing is to only look at the real estate platforms that have active listings only.  Those that are actually driven by the Multiple Listing Service by the local Boards of Realtors.

    Paris and Connor MacIvor

Connor and Paris MacIvor are in the Top 1% of Realtors Nationwide, starting their real estate business in 1998 with RE/MAX Gateway - Santa Clarita Valley and Valencia CA. Their becoming licensed real estate consultants and representatives came from the horrible experience they had when they bought their first home. There were many things that the agent they had hired did not explain and disclose, which per law he should have. Getting that agent on the phone after they closed escrow and after he had gotten paid was impossible. Paris and Connor called the broker, the board of realtors, the office manager and all they received was the promise of a phone call back. The remedy did come, but not as fast and in the way they wanted. That act - that bad agent was the reason why Paris and Connor became Realtors. That was all they needed to vow to never let the same fate befall anyone else, that befell them. Today Connor and Paris are focused on client service. Protection and top-shelf service with regard to their real estate clientele. They primarily work within the Santa Clarita Valley and Valencia CA. However, for a referral, where 80+ of their business is referrals they have License and Will Travel to other parts of Ventura County, Los Angeles County, and Orange County to handle real estate transactions for those who trust their real estate operation.
