    When we first started real estate in the Santa Clarita Valley, everything was handled either in person or over the phone.

    In fact, in 1998 – the year of us starting to serve our Santa Clarita real estate clients, faxes weren’t very available or trusted. Everything we did in the Santa Clarita real estate world was in person. We may have dropped off a real estate purchase contract at the office of the listing agent for our clients, but you can be sure we followed up in person or by telephone. We were insistent on getting verification of receipt from the agent with the listing.

    As a Listing Agent in Santa Clarita Valley, I observed many an agent summoning me to my office via our receptionists.  The phone call would go something like this, “Connor, this is Janice at reception, Jon Julio is here wanting to see you about dropping off an offer for the listing you have for sale at 12234 Anywhere Street, Santa Clarita, are you in?”

    Of course, if I was in, I would say, “send up Jon” – if I wasn’t I would say, “take the offer and fax it to me, so I could look at it at my home fax.

    Fax to email and scanning, those things were not a “thing” as of that time.

    Progression takes place in Santa Clarita real estate and we soon found out that the internet was going to trump any “in person” delivery and relation to the future of faxing documents and contracts.

    However, having said that, if you really want to make an impression with an “older and more seasoned” agent, you will still deliver the offer in person.

    We do this often, but today – as well known as we are for being Top Realtors in Santa Clarita CA, our emailed offers are just as good in most circumstances.

    I will tell you I do know the difference.

    From an Agent to home buyer or seller perspective – I will tell you that we still answer the phone. I keep in touch with clients and have not ascribed to the “set it and forget it” method of doing real estate.

    Our service is the only thing which gives us added value when it comes to both buyer and seller representation. In Santa Clarita real estate – it’s impossible for the fate of Realtors to fall as did the travel agents.

    That aside, I will tell you that we still have a travel agent when we are heading out of the country coordinating our trip. Their services are invaluable when it comes to the complicated. I won’t hire one going to Vegas – but to the UK – absolutely – no matter the trip, purpose and duration – a good Travel Agent is worth their weight in GOLD!

    When it comes to real estate, it’s much more expensive than a trip to the UK – and requires something more than an online resource that is speaking about real estate and homes. Real estate syndication websites are all about generating leads for the agents willing to pay for them. We are not about that and we are real live agents not willing to pay for leads.

    The way we get leads is 85% by referral and the rest by the traffic we generate online by speaking on our Santa Clarita Blog about Santa Clarita real estate. We make sure to keep our clients in the know when it comes to SCV real estate and the happenings at a local level.
