Have you been thinking of having solar installed on your Santa Clarita CA Home?
Maybe you live within one of the Santa Clarita Cities are trying to remain in Tier 1 power bill pricing by So. Cal Edison?
I get ya, we have been too. But our roof is not apparently Solar Friendly.
I have had two different companies come out and they say our roof is not “typical”. They don’t think there is enough room to keep us at tier 1(only) pricing. I explained, I’m not interested in 100% of our electrical bill being taken care of, which would be nice. I only want us to remain within the first tier of So. Cal Edison Financing.
The second Tier gets more expensive, then third their and fourth, etc.
If I could only have enough solar panels that make sense, to keep me within the first tier, I’d be happy.
“Not with that roof”, they explain.
“There is no way” they explain to me. “Nothing we can do”, “your roof just does not have the correct angles!”
What about the schools. They have the right angles installed in stand-alone solar platforms and they all have the “correct” angles.
Can’t you do that with my backyard or have i-beams installed over my home to accommodate those panels?
No, we cannot, they explain. There are too many people we are working with that live in large homes, who use a lot of energy, that need solar to live comfortably, where we don’t have to make special accommodations for those of your type.
That is what it comes down to? My Type? People like me who are in the minority?
I want solar. I want to be a part of the green movement. I will keep you posted as if I can write one simple article and get better results than when I called and interviewed Santa Clarita Solar companies, including Costco.
Oh – and another thing – what it is it with the roof only being warrantied for 5 years? With Costco, they do a 10-year roof warranty against leaking – OMG – Really? That’s it. That does not make me feel very comfortable.
Why not solar on the ground as a covering to park my vehicle beneath, like at the schools? – I’d go for that. But, the solar companies don’t seem to be equipped to go that route. They want the roof of your home or nothing. I’m still not feeling better about wanting to be GREEN like my friends with more conforming roof patterns.
I will keep you posted as to how my accommodation of solar is coming.
The “roof” installation causes me distress. They don’t allow for lifetime coverage if there were to be roof leaks because of their install. They Should – 100%.
I will keep you updated on this page. I will let you know the next persons who contact me by the organic search, as I do for my business. It may be interesting to see if there are solar companies adept enough to teach their employees how to search for articles like mine.
