Santa Clarita Open Houses Games Part 1

    I’ll never forget a couple of weeks ago when I had a client call me after his “covert operation” visiting open houses with his wife on a weekend when I was totally booked.

    Stan, “Connor, I’m sorry…”Santa Clarita open houses

    Connor, “Sorry for what Stan?”

    Stan, “I’m sorry that I did not listen to you…”

    Connor, “I don’t understand?”

    Stan, “Becky and I went into an open house in Valencia CA – We spoke with the agent, the agent told us the only way we could buy the home was through her.  I told her that we had a realtor – she said, if you want to buy the home, we would have to write offer with her! – and it would have to be right then because of the high-level of activity.  Connor, it was a home I had asked you about, you said it was in escrow.  So, Becky and I wrote the offer while at the home with the agent at the open house.  I was excited and so was Becky, but we felt bad, that’s the reason for this phone call…”

    Connor, “Felt bad?”

    Stan, “Very… Connor, It does not end there – You were right – the home was in escrow.  In fact, it was in escrow on the day we wrote the offer, even before that when we asked you – you were correct.  What you told us was true, some agents hold open houses at homes that are not available… – She hooked us Connor – We will always heed your warnings from this point on… – We felt played and taken advantage of.  You know what she told us when I called about the offer we had written?”

    Connor, “what?”

    Stan, “She told us that someone else had written a higher offer, but she had a couple of other listings that were not on the market yet, that she could show us.  Like I am going to fall for bull shit a second time – no WAY!!!  I thought to myself, I’d better get back to Connor and apologize – what a game…”
