    Santa Clarita Home Trends, They Aren’t One Size Fits All

    Paris and I experience a lot of pleasure when we hand the keys to a new buyer(s).  Watching them become overwhelmed, with the pride of ownership, is priceless.  The same goes for others in our realm that wish to conduct any real estate business.  Short Sale Sellers have commented that having the phone call from Paris and I stating, “We are finished…”, was like a ton of bricks being lifted off of them.

    Home trends are not one size fits all. Article after article states what is “in” and what is “out”, but before taking any of these ins and outs too seriously you should consider that every home and homeowner is individual. Not many people fit into a mold, so why should our homes?

    Certainly the recession made everyone take pause and consider simplifying, downsizing, and limiting the luxury, but how much is individual. Current trends for newer homes, for example, are negating the formal living room and formal dining room in many cases, but if we read between the lines we could also take this as a change in our society and an acknowledgement that today’s homeowner lives a more relaxed lifestyle, typically.

    While they say most people are interested in smaller homes these days, a certain pro football player and his supermodel wife recently bought a home that was over 20,000 square feet in size. Real estate is local. If you are remodeling or building a home, you know your community, you know what is common in your community, and you know what people are looking for. The best news is that if you don’t know, all you need to do is get in touch with an experienced REALTOR for a little guidance.

    It never ceases to amaze me when people are still constantly pressured.  I remember when Paris and I bought our first home back in 1996.  It was in Newhall and we were steered and pressured.  It was very uncomfortable, I was LAPD for Heck’s Sake!  I was not going to be pressured.  But pressured I was, all the way into buying a home that we should not have, upon retrospection.

    Today, everything is different.  Not only promising that we would never have anyone working with us taken advantage of during our watch, but making sure the person on the other side of the transaction is protected to the best of our ability.
