Santa Clarita foreclosure updates – if you are Googling your address – read on

    I received a call from a city employee – I won’t go into detail about which agency, but his wife had been wondering if something had been going on with their rental and it’s owner.  They had gotten some “curious” mailings in the past few weeks at their residence.REMAX of SCV Website

    Up to that point, for the past 2 years, they had never gotten any mail for the owner(landlord) of the property.  She went on-line and punched their address into a Google Search Bar.

    Low and Behold – they were redirected to a page such as this one that gave the notification of a notice of default filing that had taken place on the home they are currently renting.

    I then got the call and he was quite upset.  “Connor, I had not idea, I have been paying my rent on-time, I have been taking care of this home as if it was like my own, I feel so violated…”  I explained that I totally understand, with his family in tow, they are going to have to make other arrangements with regard to a place to live.

    However, nothing ever happens that fast in the State of California.  If the owner has defaulted on his mortgage, that process can take several months to complete.  The caller is heading to seek the advice of an attorney, which is smart thinking.  Having worked for the city for over 23 years, this fella has his wits about him.

    They are coming in to my office in the coming week to discuss buying a home in the Santa Clarita Valley.  The caller commented in closing, “You know Connor, this has become a major inconvenience for my family and I, but I guess it got me off of the fence.  See you Tuesday…”
