Real Estate Rental Scams and what to watch out for

It has been a long time coming.  We had another client, after running the intel and recon on a rental in the Santa Clarita Valley, they had a notice of Eviction posted on their front door.

They knew the job was dangerous when they took it.  I know there is no way that every base can be covered when approaching a rental.  However, here is a video showing some of the things you can do to be prepared.

The Leasing Company I was not familiar with.  Nor were Paris and I representing them.  However, both Paris and I are re-thinking our position in helping renters find rentals and writing up the contracts on our end…  Currently we don’t offer this service – But I think we are going to have to step up for our Friends and Clients.  We’ll keep you posted…

Bad people are in this world.  My Dad used to say, “Son, you cannot make a good deal with a bad guy…”  True Dad, but sometimes the Bad Guys look like the Good Guys.

Be Safe – and check out this Video for some of the “protecting yourselves when renting” tips from my cop brain to your ears.

Always best to meet your new landlord and see the property before you commit in anyway to a rental. However there are situations where this may not be possible. In those instances, the renter should check into DepositGuard as a way to mitigate risk.

That is so true Alan. That face to face is a very ‘reassuring’ step. What would you do if the landlord refused or their rep told you they were unavailable? Maybe a video conference? How far would you push it… Thanks ahead of time for your response. – My BEST

Having read this I thought it was rather informative. I appreciate you spending some time and effort to put this information together. I once again find myself personally spending a lot of time both reading and posting comments. But so what, it was still worth it!
