Prompting this blog post was a phone call from an “internet marketer”. They asked me how am I doing online and how is my GoSCV.com website doing for lead generation?
I told him not very good if at all. It’s not my main site. SCVnest.com is. He had seen that site and told me he wasn’t going to call that “owner” and did not realize I was the owner of that Santa Clarita real estate website also.
I thought that was a curious response, I wanted to know why he wasn’t going to call the SCVnest.com owner? He explained that site is hitting on the Google channels and he also saw there was a robust PPC – pay per click campaign.
I felt honored and then started to discuss the changes that Google has gone through with its GMB – Google my Business Listings and how those placeholders and the attention paid to them rank higher than most new content, in a way.
“In a Way”, applies to the shorter keyword searches that involve the most expensive PPC fees per click.
For the longer tail keyword phrases – Such as Pool Homes in the Santa Clarita Valley, those still rely on fresh new content on a local real estate website, if Zillow and Trulia haven’t taken the ball away ;(
He wanted to know why I waste my time learning all the newest facets of online ranking and I explained that my clients demand it. They may not know it when they are hiring me, nor do they care. But after they get multiple offers on the real estate I’m selling for them and find their home of choice from an “off-market” listing I sent to them, they are happy I work as hard as I do to rank online.
A real estate seller and real estate buyer may not care when you rank. However, if you do it right and put the work in, they will thank you after you represent them. They will easily see the difference it makes to be the pivot point in your local real estate market, as we are for the Santa Clarita real estate communities.
He said he and his company do what I do. He wanted to know why I would not have them do it for me saving me time and money. I explained that I have been burned before.
