The New Year is bringing new driving laws to the Santa Clarita Valley, covering issues from instruction permits to advertising on cars. The intent of the new laws is to make California roads a safer place to be and knowing what is changing will help out everyone. Some of the new laws that Santa Clarita drivers will face include:
- A law regarding motorcycle theft, making it illegal to have any tool or motorcycle ignition parts that are intended to be used to steal a motorcycle.
- HOV lanes and low-emission vehicles. Cars with yellow or white stickers can continue to use the HOV lanes regardless of how many people are in them. Yellow stickers are good until July 1, 2011, white stickers until January 1, 2015.
- A mobile billboard ordinance will go into effect giving power to local authorities to regulate mobile billboard usage within individual communities.
These are but a few on the laws that will affect those living and driving in the Santa Clarita Valley. Click here to visit the legislative website and learn more about how California’s roads will be safer in the New Year.
