Meeting with Relocation Clients that are Rocket Scientists

    It amazes me of the educational level of some those that find us on-line. How about “Rocket Scientists?” Had two today come into our offices at REMAX of Santa Clarita Valley.

    Finding out both are Working at JPL, I relayed my experience working at Jet Propulsion Labs. Before I was actually chose and was certified to start to the LAPD Police Academy, I needed a temporary job. I was looking through the want pages and found Wells Fargo Guard Service hiring. Not the Bank – but their Guard Service department.

    They had many accounts across Southern California. I got the job as a Field Supervisor. My job was to drive around from post to post ensuring the guards were doing their DETEX Runs and, more importantly, were at their posts.

    I worked during the night. I was given a Thomas Guide, a pager and a ledger with a list of Guards phone numbers in it. During my last couple of months, Wells Fargo Guard Service needed to permanently assign a guard at Jet Propulsion labs in Alta Dena. Apparently I was good enough to assign.

    I was at JPL, working the first building – announcing the lunch truck had arrived and doing my detex runs during the day, for 3 months. I met a lot of awesome people and befriended a lot of them as well. When I finally got the call from LAPD that I made it, I announced it over the intercom system and those, whom I had befriended, came out to congratulate me. It was a tear fest – a very emotional time 🙂

    We talked about that, we talked about the market and we talked about Data. Real Estate data, a passion of mine. He and his wife were both tuned in with Real Estate data. History of real estate, the current inventory, prices per square foot and nailing it down to the area and zip code of where they want to buy a home.

    The most impressive thing is they took it upon themselves to interview real estate agents from Santa Clarita Valley. They are not going to accept the first one they meet as being “The One”. When buying your first home or subsequent one – you should not either…
