I’m Guilty of using clever marketing slogans in Real Estate

As I plead my case to the court of public opinion, I cannot help but think I never gave it much thought.  We had a very nice lady, that was interviewing agents to short sale her Valencia CA home, sit down with me in our offices.

Besides all of the Short Sale information I relayed to her, she had a question.  “What is the difference between a Short Sale Specialist and a Short Sale Expert?”

As I wrote on our REMAX Foreclosure and Short Sale blog when discussing a similar topic, it set me back.

In the law enforcement, military and special operator realms when it comes to “specialists” and “experts”, they usually never tell you how great they are.  They are labeled Specialist or Expert by their colleagues.  Of course, being labeled an expert or specialist by your equals is always much more honorable than saying it yourself to everyone you meet.

Furthermore, some of the most dangerous men and women that I have ever met never talked about how “dangerous” they are.  Those that did talk about how great they were – weren’t.

Thee “Buzz” words in real estate that agents use to solicit clients or appear different are some of the following:

    • Top Producing Realtor
    • Short Sale Expert
    • Short Sale specialist
    • Certified short sale specialist
    • Number one agent
    • Voted Best Real Estate agent
    • Voted best real estate team
    • voted number one agent 🙂
There is a whole slew of them – but I will tell you will weed out the Non Hackers in Real Estate that will not serve your best interests during the interview phase.  If you are wanting to know what questions we would ask a real estate agent if we were doing the interviewing, knowing what we know now, click here.

    Paris and Connor MacIvor

Connor and Paris MacIvor are in the Top 1% of Realtors Nationwide, starting their real estate business in 1998 with RE/MAX Gateway - Santa Clarita Valley and Valencia CA. Their becoming licensed real estate consultants and representatives came from the horrible experience they had when they bought their first home. There were many things that the agent they had hired did not explain and disclose, which per law he should have. Getting that agent on the phone after they closed escrow and after he had gotten paid was impossible. Paris and Connor called the broker, the board of realtors, the office manager and all they received was the promise of a phone call back. The remedy did come, but not as fast and in the way they wanted. That act - that bad agent was the reason why Paris and Connor became Realtors. That was all they needed to vow to never let the same fate befall anyone else, that befell them. Today Connor and Paris are focused on client service. Protection and top-shelf service with regard to their real estate clientele. They primarily work within the Santa Clarita Valley and Valencia CA. However, for a referral, where 80+ of their business is referrals they have License and Will Travel to other parts of Ventura County, Los Angeles County, and Orange County to handle real estate transactions for those who trust their real estate operation.
