There are a lot of ways to generate leads in real estate and get one’s name out there. However, most take time. There are very few silver bullets and that fact is what the Real Estate syndication websites are thankful for.

They have agents pay them big money to ride on top of their platform so they can send them leads.
They already have the web presence. They have invested time, money and optimization techniques into their websites. As a new real estate agent, or one that does not want to generate leads by permission based marketing and writing content, has to do is sign up on one of the real estate syndication website for a (FREE) account.
I guarantee your phone ringing within the next 48 hours explaining to you that “Site X is currently tracking 18,000 buyers a month looking for homes in your particular city…”
If you try to tell the salesperson that you are going to attempt it alone by writing content on your own blog – they are sure to have a counter. Something like this, “You are truly a dumb person if you think you are going to be able to rank higher than our site – we are number one on the planet in Real Estate Search…”
That is actually what I was told after about 15 minutes of banter when one of the real estate syndication websites, thank God I have a thick skin 🙂
I have a different approach but it’s not for those that are wanting the quicker, easier and less “long tailed” way.
The advantages of “My Way” are that the leads are much more qualified. Very few leads I generate from the content I’m writing are tire kickers. The interview process between us and our potential clients secures us their buyer representation or their listing over 99% of the time.
Another advantage of the “content way” is the fact your content is going to be much more localized. The Syndication website would have to hire someone to write content about your specific city – and if they are not from there – that “familiarity” will be missing and prospective clients will see it.
Having had memberships with most all of the real estate syndication websites, those leads are no where near the quality that are generated by local content and local real estate agents that care enough about their craft to write about it.
How much writing – somewhere between 2000 and 3000 words a day. I talk about a lot of things. I answer real estate questions in my own voice that I get from the Syndication Websites(that is a benefit – thanks Syndication sites 🙂 ). I also answer questions that are Tweeted on Twitter or shared on FaceBook or asked on Google Plus.
I talk about the local real estate market. I love to teach that the internet is the GREAT Equalizer. It is because the more work you put into it talking about your craft and about the questions clients have, the better you will be viewed on the Major Search Engines.
Giving to groups – helping others – sharing posts – liking other’s face-book pages – Re-Tweeting and more, those are the things where agent’s need to be ever present. Doing so, we will never have to depend on someone else sending us leads – we will be our own lead generation machines…
