Google will never call you!!!!

This is something you should know has to do with some of the most recent scams I have encountered.

It starts with a phone call with a recorded greeting.

The caller talks about a Google local places advertisement you have.

Businesses in Santa Clarita ValleyIf you have set up your business on Google, you will probably get this call soon, if you have not already.

They are looking out for your best interests, it seems, at first glance. Wanting to verify that your business is correctly rendering on Google Maps.

The recorded male voice then says with some sense of urgency, “Press 1 to speak with someone right now!!!”

I pressed 1 and then was connected with “Kevin”. Kevin introduced himself and said he was from the Tech Team. (I thought using the title “tech team” was clever – deceitful, but clever…)

I asked, “are you working for Google.” He said, “we are authorized partners for Google..”

I knew, at this time they were attempting to sell me something. I asked the caller how many people a day ask him if he works for Google? He explained that it was a lot.

I told him that maybe they should not pose as if they are Google, it is misleading and makes people angry.

The moral to this story is for you business owners out there to be careful. Deceit comes in many shapes and forms.

This was a positive outcome, because I asked for my phone number to be removed from their database. But what If I did not know what questions to ask?

The outcome may not have been so good if I would have been conned into giving them my CC number or account number.

Be Safe – search well and remember, “Google will not be calling you for anything 🙂 “

    Paris and Connor MacIvor

Connor and Paris MacIvor are in the Top 1% of Realtors Nationwide, starting their real estate business in 1998 with RE/MAX Gateway - Santa Clarita Valley and Valencia CA. Their becoming licensed real estate consultants and representatives came from the horrible experience they had when they bought their first home. There were many things that the agent they had hired did not explain and disclose, which per law he should have. Getting that agent on the phone after they closed escrow and after he had gotten paid was impossible. Paris and Connor called the broker, the board of realtors, the office manager and all they received was the promise of a phone call back. The remedy did come, but not as fast and in the way they wanted. That act - that bad agent was the reason why Paris and Connor became Realtors. That was all they needed to vow to never let the same fate befall anyone else, that befell them. Today Connor and Paris are focused on client service. Protection and top-shelf service with regard to their real estate clientele. They primarily work within the Santa Clarita Valley and Valencia CA. However, for a referral, where 80+ of their business is referrals they have License and Will Travel to other parts of Ventura County, Los Angeles County, and Orange County to handle real estate transactions for those who trust their real estate operation.
