I quit the LAPD when the real estate market burst. I had resigned shortly after New Century bank folded.
I remember thinking to myself quite often, I did not quit the LAPD after 17 years, give up having a pension three years away, to fail in real estate.
One of the things that I realized quite early is most agents seem to be lazy. In fact, when I tell others in our industry my daily schedule, I get a dumfounded look. We are not the most successful agents in the Santa Clarita Valley, yet.
Some ask if I think all of the content I write is worth it. I tell them to check Google – run some of those Santa Clarita real estate keywords. See where our Paris911 Brand is and then ask yourself that same question. I know it is. In fact, in another two years, I foresee no one being at the tops of the Search engine results pages except us 🙂
In business, you have the self motivated and those that need to be hitched to and dragged along. I am not sure how that “type” works out – but I am definitely on the side of the primary mover. Someone that is self motivated and if they don’t know they find out and learn.
I love that type of business man/woman. They make me happy. The reason I bring this up has to do with some that come into my offices for training and say, “OMG, that’s too hard, I cannot believe all of the work it takes, can’t I just pay someone to do it for me???”
Here is the real estate model:
I know right!!!! However, the top of your competition is not paying anyone, they have learned it and are applying it daily. They have time to focus on 3 hours with regard to the inbound marketing concept by writing content. They are going to run circles around all of you paying the real estate syndication websites for leads. They are becoming true Local Real Estate Experts.
Start reading, start listening to marketing podcasts, start reaching out for a mentor in yours or another industry. Get someone that you can rely on and someone that knows what they are doing and hitch your trailer to theirs.
