It has been fun getting feedback from our video series about Home Buying on Facebook at our SCVnest Channel.
While searching for real estate and homes in Santa Clarita will seem easy, you could be taken advantage of. That is the last thing I want to happen to a friend or enemy.
While getting new tires for my car, at My Tire Store in Santa Clarita on Railroad Avenue (thanks Andy),I thought I would do our Live Facebook broadcast for real estate and homes and post it from the back of the store. Not too hygienic – but it was fun none the less.
My ipad was posted atop a very large semi truck tire and I was sitting in a chair that seemed to be straining under my weight (on second thought, I suppose most chairs do 🙂 ) – I’m working on it.
This is our second episode for the real estate buyers in the world, and seller’s too. We have the first video posted about Loans and Lending – borrowing money to buy a home.
This one is a bit closer to home because I’m a techy type of person. I can teach anyone to shoot most weapons systems, but I’m still a bit of a nerd.
When we first started in real estate having a real estate listing was something worthy of a prize.
They were coveted by the real agents that had each listing.
Strange thing, when the internet started to take off and have real estate listings posted by real estate syndication websites, the agents with the listings freaked out.
“How Dare they – I want it stopped – They should not be able to do that – They are Stealing from Me…” I’d hear agents say.
Heck – I did not like it either. Those systems did not make real estate more transparent, the agent still had the Multiple Listing Service, those real estate syndication websites muddied the water.
In fact, real estate listings being displayed online should have the same set of rules having to be abided by and enforceable.
Unfortunately, they do not. There is no enforcement mechanism with regard to any real estate syndication website.
Only a “Realtor” who is a Full Fledged member of a Board of Realtors, providing access to homes for sale by the Multiple Listing Service is able to be charged with violations and code infractions.
We provide our SCVnest.com site which does give you access to the Multiple Listing Service real estate listings which are for sale.
During my tenure in real estate, since 1998, I have seen a lot of issues arise by a client searching on a NON MLS system. Don’t fall for it. If you see a listing on one of those sites, make a note of it and sent it to your real estate professional for proper vetting.
Enjoy our video and before you give up any of your personal and private information, check the site you are using for a local phone number and contact name.
Give them a call to see who answers and if they are a real live local real estate agent.
If they try to “hook” you – just say you were making sure they were not a sham and hang up 🙂
