Don’t let your friend sell you a home

    Real Estate agents friendsSo, as not to beat a dead horse. Friends as Realtors. Some are truly stellar.  Some are horrible.

    If I had a dollar for every time, just this year, that I have heard from our buyers that they had turned down a friend in the real estate business, from representing them, I’d have at least 15 additional dollars.

    Some agents work well with their friends. However, it is only those that separate Business from Friendship that make the grade.

    Never Assume – Agents that are friends with their clients always make this mistake. They “assume the sale”. They think it’s okay to “sideline” some important piece of information that any buyer, even their friends, might have found useful.

    Always be honest – Tough words but something that needs to be referenced. Friend Agents can “assume” more than can be accounted for. They may not tell you things that should be spoken about. Just because they are friends of yours and know everything will work out okay. But what if it does not?

    Some “Friends” are different – It should be stated that when you are about to embark on utilizing your friend to buy or sell a home, tell your friendly agent, “Don’t leave anything out!!!”  “Treat me as if I did not know you!”
