Get a Box that the family knows.  A shoe box or a drawer that everyone in your household can agree on – Place a highlighter on the outside or inside of the shoe box. Every time you return from an outing – take just a few minutes and high-light anything that you purchased for your home, condo or town-home.

When it comes to real estate save receipts and you just might save tax dollars. When you sell a home you pay taxes on your capital gains, but it is important to remember that the repairs that you make to your home, between the time you buy and the time you sell, count as costs toward the home. Saving your receipts helps provide proof of the costs incurred with making improvements to your real estate.

There are many financial benefits that come with home ownership that simply don’t exist with renting a home. Aside from the obvious fact that buying a home allows people to gain equity, owning a home also affords people the ability to write off mortgage interest paid, which can be an incredible asset come April 15th!

Whether you replace a roof, renovate your kitchen, or add on to your home, improving your home can be offset when you sell thanks to the additional money your can write off at the time you sell. We all want to save money these days, and paying attention to the details is important. Save your receipts and you will owe less to Uncle Sam!

    Paris and Connor MacIvor

Connor and Paris MacIvor are in the Top 1% of Realtors Nationwide, starting their real estate business in 1998 with RE/MAX Gateway - Santa Clarita Valley and Valencia CA. Their becoming licensed real estate consultants and representatives came from the horrible experience they had when they bought their first home. There were many things that the agent they had hired did not explain and disclose, which per law he should have. Getting that agent on the phone after they closed escrow and after he had gotten paid was impossible. Paris and Connor called the broker, the board of realtors, the office manager and all they received was the promise of a phone call back. The remedy did come, but not as fast and in the way they wanted. That act - that bad agent was the reason why Paris and Connor became Realtors. That was all they needed to vow to never let the same fate befall anyone else, that befell them. Today Connor and Paris are focused on client service. Protection and top-shelf service with regard to their real estate clientele. They primarily work within the Santa Clarita Valley and Valencia CA. However, for a referral, where 80+ of their business is referrals they have License and Will Travel to other parts of Ventura County, Los Angeles County, and Orange County to handle real estate transactions for those who trust their real estate operation.
