If anyone can make a full time living on a 100% commission based business, they are doing something right – if they can maintain it for more than a couple of years.
I get that more than most because I was a Government Worker. I worked for the LAPD for 17 years, then did it for free for an additional 5 as a reserve. When I resigned people thought I was crazy, including the captain of VTD, not knowing what was going on and that I felt the need to join Paris, in a full time capacity, in the business we had been building for the previous 9 years.
I played a little gag on him when he called, in a panicked state, after I told his secretary I was going to quit. It is exceedingly rare for a person to quite so close to a vested retirement. I had three more years to go. I was 38 at the time – At the age of 41, I would have had to wait an additional 9 years to collect 30% of what I was making.
Medical insurance coverage would have entered the picture in an additional 4 years, when I was 55.
Now that you know and now that I can look back at the past several years being full time in this business, I made the right decision.
However, I am thankful for being able to serve the additional 5 years as a Reserve Officer. I miss you all and we will see you in the Thin Blue Line and around the “social gatherings” of the LAPD…
