Candid camera in Real Estate home buyers beware

Seeing agents doing things they don’t want to be caught doing happens in homes that are listed for sale.

Walking in on a couple of agents who happen to be engaged may bring a smile to one’s face or a tear to another’s eye 🙂

Seeing a person viewing an open house going through a seller’s medicine cabinet or dresser drawers is a bad situation.

Hearing the “truth” about what buyers think of a seller’s home may cause bad feelings.

Today, viewing any and all of these events don’t depend on being there “in person”.

So many agents forget that technology is cheap in the form of video and audio. A seller can equip their entire home for less than $100.00. Some have these systems because they have an alarm. Other home owners have audio recording equipment and video cameras for other reasons.

We have a ring system, with a ring doorbell and other remote cameras. I can move the battery powered cameras and place them anywhere. When we went out of the country recently I was able to view our home while we were away from Ireland. It was awesome and gave me comfort!

Santa Clarita real estate blogAgents should be reminded to inform their buyers that the likelihood of them being recorded is almost certain.

So hence more reason to be on the best behavior when inside another person’s home.

Those words should not stop with the home buyers – the agents should also be on notice.

In real estate legend we have heard of agents who are “hooking up”, trying to do so without their “significant other’s” knowledge. To do so in a seller’s home, not a good idea.

We have also been able to provide to the local law enforcement agencies video of “open house criminals” stealing from unsuspecting home owners.

When I was with the LAPD, we were very aware of our being on camera often from angles which were unsuspected. However, that knowledge is only beneficial for those who remember it and put their best foot forward. Even with that knowledge, some drop the ball and you see it often on TMZ 🙂

Bottom Line – behave as if the world is watching. When you want to do things in private, use your closet and leave your cellular phone outside and keep quiet…

    Paris and Connor MacIvor

Connor and Paris MacIvor are in the Top 1% of Realtors Nationwide, starting their real estate business in 1998 with RE/MAX Gateway - Santa Clarita Valley and Valencia CA. Their becoming licensed real estate consultants and representatives came from the horrible experience they had when they bought their first home. There were many things that the agent they had hired did not explain and disclose, which per law he should have. Getting that agent on the phone after they closed escrow and after he had gotten paid was impossible. Paris and Connor called the broker, the board of realtors, the office manager and all they received was the promise of a phone call back. The remedy did come, but not as fast and in the way they wanted. That act - that bad agent was the reason why Paris and Connor became Realtors. That was all they needed to vow to never let the same fate befall anyone else, that befell them. Today Connor and Paris are focused on client service. Protection and top-shelf service with regard to their real estate clientele. They primarily work within the Santa Clarita Valley and Valencia CA. However, for a referral, where 80+ of their business is referrals they have License and Will Travel to other parts of Ventura County, Los Angeles County, and Orange County to handle real estate transactions for those who trust their real estate operation.
