Are you a Police officer that has been taken advantage of with regard to a service?

I should also add the word “product” to this.  Sworn members of Law Enforcement seem to get hit up often by those that offer a service or a product.  Get rich schemes seem to be something that is constantly pitched to their members.

I remember getting it several times while I was with the LAPD.  Some were offering something that sounded a lot like a pyramid scheme.  Others wanted me to sell on-line music for an investment of $900 dollars.  Both promised that I would not have to be with the PD in only a couple of years.  However, to do so I would have to sell my work associates, “other cops” on the offering.

REMAX's Paris911 Team of real estate agentsI declined, but I know a lot of men and women that did not decline.  They were taken to the cleaners and some were brought up on charges.  Sad but true.

Why is it that most people are looking for the “get rich quick” way?  I remember my dad telling me if something sounds too good to be true, it usually is.  He also taught me to ask the vendor what is in it for them?  What do they stand to gain?  How does the mechanism really work and who is the man behind the curtain?

When it comes to working with the rank and file of the LAPD, or the Deputies of the LASD, The Highway Patrol Officers with the CHP and educational professionals from all walks of life, there is one thing I know for sure – they are not easily sold.  In fact, they are some of the most difficult clients to work with.

There are reasons for that.  It is because they spend all day, every day being lied to.  When they have someone from the inside attempting to take advantage of them, they typically don’t turn a critical eye.  I mean seriously, why would your brother or sister officer lead you down a path of destruction?

Well, it happens more often than it should.  When we bought our first home, we were taken advantage of.  That is when I was with the Defense rep unit. It was pretty ugly, but we managed and we got amends from the agent who took Paris and I.  We became licensed and functioning Realtors a short time after.

We promised and vowed to never allow anyone to get taken under our watch.  So hence the Paris911 Team was born.

If someone is promising you that they can get you something others cannot, verify it.  Check out their story.  Use your critical eye that you use on the job with those that are selling you at work.

I cannot tell you how many times that Paris and I had been told about the latest scam in “real estate”.  This happens within the walls of our offices when we have had our friends from LE(law enforcement) come in and tell us what was being pitched “at work”.  By other cops or their spouses no less!!!!

While I was a cop, I could not fully represent my friends and work associates with my best abilities.  I had court or other administrative functions that sometimes prohibited me from being able to “be there 100% for my clients”.  That is why I was glad “Paris” was the full time end of our real estate business.  She was the blessing watching out for those I worked with and others that found our Santa Clarita Real estate Team and embraced us to be their real estate representatives.

    Paris and Connor MacIvor

Connor and Paris MacIvor are in the Top 1% of Realtors Nationwide, starting their real estate business in 1998 with RE/MAX Gateway - Santa Clarita Valley and Valencia CA. Their becoming licensed real estate consultants and representatives came from the horrible experience they had when they bought their first home. There were many things that the agent they had hired did not explain and disclose, which per law he should have. Getting that agent on the phone after they closed escrow and after he had gotten paid was impossible. Paris and Connor called the broker, the board of realtors, the office manager and all they received was the promise of a phone call back. The remedy did come, but not as fast and in the way they wanted. That act - that bad agent was the reason why Paris and Connor became Realtors. That was all they needed to vow to never let the same fate befall anyone else, that befell them. Today Connor and Paris are focused on client service. Protection and top-shelf service with regard to their real estate clientele. They primarily work within the Santa Clarita Valley and Valencia CA. However, for a referral, where 80+ of their business is referrals they have License and Will Travel to other parts of Ventura County, Los Angeles County, and Orange County to handle real estate transactions for those who trust their real estate operation.
