6 mortgage tips you cannot live without

Running in real estate circles may cause dizziness.

During our Foreclosure and Bank Owned Wednesday broadcast I want to talk about the 6 mortgage tips that a home buyer cannot live without. Those most important 6 tips every first time home buyer needs to know along with the veteran real estate investor.

While it may be simple to obtain a mortgage – some of these real estate mortgage tips for the home buyer speak from a “safety and protection” point of view.

My Santa Clarita real estate team has been representing clients, home buyers and home sellers, since 1998. During that time, I have seen a lot of interesting things. Some of which were good for the home buyers and some which weren’t.

These “things” were not all the fault of any particular party to the transaction. Some were the fault of the home seller. Others the fault of the real estate agent. At different times I observed the real estate lender at fault. I have also seen other parties to the transaction at fault, the title officer, escrow officer, home inspector and the termite inspector.

Buyers have a certain amount of due diligence. However, in most cases, it’s going to be up to the other “professionals” to represent them to the best of their ability. Never purposely throwing anyone under the bus.

Not all agents in the real estate business or lending world have their clients best interest at their heart. Some are just focused on the real estate commission to be earned.

When you are ready to look for a real estate agent or real estate lender. My suggestion is that you interview more than one in all cases. Even those whom were referred to you.

Sit down with them and get a feeling for how they operate. Explain to them that you need their full protection and that you want them to give you a fair deal and explain the entire process to you as they go along.

Follow up all things with them in email, to be sure you have understood and to get them to verify you understood what they meant. This tip, which is part of the 6 tips for real estate buyers related to getting a mortgage, is super important and rarely used by buyers of real estate.

    Paris and Connor MacIvor

Connor and Paris MacIvor are in the Top 1% of Realtors Nationwide, starting their real estate business in 1998 with RE/MAX Gateway - Santa Clarita Valley and Valencia CA. Their becoming licensed real estate consultants and representatives came from the horrible experience they had when they bought their first home. There were many things that the agent they had hired did not explain and disclose, which per law he should have. Getting that agent on the phone after they closed escrow and after he had gotten paid was impossible. Paris and Connor called the broker, the board of realtors, the office manager and all they received was the promise of a phone call back. The remedy did come, but not as fast and in the way they wanted. That act - that bad agent was the reason why Paris and Connor became Realtors. That was all they needed to vow to never let the same fate befall anyone else, that befell them. Today Connor and Paris are focused on client service. Protection and top-shelf service with regard to their real estate clientele. They primarily work within the Santa Clarita Valley and Valencia CA. However, for a referral, where 80+ of their business is referrals they have License and Will Travel to other parts of Ventura County, Los Angeles County, and Orange County to handle real estate transactions for those who trust their real estate operation.
